IPL a can of worms'

Sri Lanka's interim coach Stuart Law on Friday said cricket administrators should schedule a window for Indian Premier League fixtures to stop players choosing club over country.
Law, who has stepped in to fill the job left by outgoing coach Trevor Bayliss, has a tough assignment ahead as Sri Lanka leave for a gruelling tour of England on Tuesday.
The touring squad will be without eight players, including new skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan, who are in India for the money-spinning Twenty20 competition.
"It (IPL) is a can of worms," Law told AFP, when asked if it was right to ask Sri Lankan players to leave the IPL midway through to tune-up for the England tour.
"The way I look at it is this. All our boys are playing competitive cricket right now in IPL. They are playing a high level of competition, working under different coaches. It's better that way than having training."
Sri Lanka Cricket had earlier ordered its IPL players to return home early and train for the tour comprising three Tests, five one-dayers and one Twenty20 internationals.
The board later backed down and asked the players to join the team in England on May 18 ahead of the second practice game in Derby.
Law, a former Australian batsman, said cricket boards in England and Australia had the financial resources to retain their players and ask them to skip IPL for national duty.
"But in Sri Lanka, we can't afford that," he said. "The IPL won't go away. It's huge. It is shown around the world. The boards will have to come up with a compromise, a definite window to accommodate it."
Law said it would also be unfair on the franchises if players skipped the tournament midway.
"From a player's point of view, a definite window will be helpful," said Law who had been assisting Bayliss since 2009.
Law, however, admitted that the IPL has hampered the team's preparations with the selectors being forced to rope in Farveez Maharoof and Kaushal Silva as cover for missing senior players.
Maharoof is currently playing county cricket with Lancashire, making an impressive start to the season with a hundred on his debut against Somerset at Liverpool.
Silva, 24, is uncapped but has an impressive first-class average of 45 and has been picked up as a back-up for Prasanna Jayawardene.
The first Test begins in Cardiff on May 26

Bijoy seals T20 series for Bangladesh Academy

Anamul Haque Bijoy continued to impress with the bat as his rapid 60 helped GP-BCB National Cricket Academy to a seven-wicket win over South Africa Cricket Academy in the second and final Twenty20 game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
The hosts clinched the series 2-0 after drawing the four-day match series 1-1 and losing the one-day series 1-2 earlier. Man-of-the-match Bijoy strung a 78-run second wicket stand with Myshukur Rahman as the home side reached 139 for three in 19 overs, chasing the South Africans' 136-7 in 20 overs.
Bijoy struck five boundaries and a six in his 49-ball effort where he made sure the innings kept its momentum. After Soumya Sarkar fell for thirteen, Bijoy and Myshukur played varied knocks, the latter hitting a boundary and six in his 40-ball 34 as he aided the No 3, who was finally dismissed with his side needing 24 to win from 22 balls.
Bijoy had earlier made 169 in the second four-day game to set up a huge victory for the Academy side and yesterday too his fine half-century scripted an easy win. He began the season with a century of course and throughout, especially his stint with Abahani in the Premier League as well as his fine work behind the stumps for the Premier League side and Dhaka has impressed many.
Later, Nasir Hossain and Mominul Haque coolly reached the winning target with six balls to spare as the hosts completed a face-saving series win in the shortest format.
Paceman Hardus Viljoen and off-spinner Patrick Botha took a wicket each as the visitors would return home today with good memories after a somewhat successful tour.
Earlier, paceman Alauddin Babu again impressed with the new ball as he quickly removed Lenert van Wyk in the third over. He later had top-scorer Dominic Hendricks out bowled for 37 and he also ran out dangerman Viljoen in the slog overs.
Hendricks made 37 off 33 balls with the help of two sixes while Christiaan Schoeman, the double-centurion from the first four-dayer, struck five boundaries in his 23-ball 34.
Patrick Botha had given the visitors a fine start but he failed to take off from his 14-ball 20 as he was cleaned up by Nasir's off-spin.
Leg-spinner Noor Hossain Munna also picked up two wickets which included South African Cricket Academy skipper Joshua Richards who made just 12.
BRIEF SCORES
SOUTH AFRICA CRICKET ACADEMY: 136-7 in 20 overs (Hendricks 37, Schoemaan 34, Botha 20; Alauddin 2-30, Noor 2-23, Nasir 1-21).
GP-BCB ACADEMY: 139-3 in 19 overs (Bijoy 60, Myshukur 34, Nasir 18
not out; Viljoen 1-15, Botha 1-30).
Result: GP-BCB Academy won by seven wickets and win series 2-0.
Man-of-the-match: Anamul Haque Bijoy.

Warne to quit playing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Australian bowling legend Shane Warne Friday said he will quit all professional cricket after the current Indian Premier League season, bringing the curtain down on an extraordinary career.
"Yes this is my last year playing IPL," Warne, 41, posted on his Twitter account. "I will miss the IPL but it's been fun for the last 4 seasons... I've had a great time -- but it's time to say goodbye to IPL.
"Thanks for kind words re my bowling -- but it's 100 percent my last four games of professional cricket unless we make finals."
The leg-spin great, widely considered one of the best bowlers ever, took 708 Test wickets before retiring from international cricket after winning the Ashes series in 2006-07.
In 2008 he withdrew from first-class cricket in Britain, where he had played for Hampshire, and only prolonged his on-field involvement with the game in the high-profile and lucrative IPL.
As skipper-cum-coach of the Rajasthan Royals franchise, he guided a squad of young and relatively unknown players to the title in the tournament's inaugural season in 2008.
The franchise's fortunes dipped in the next two editions but this year they appear well-placed to reach the knockout rounds, with five wins from 10 outings.
"A big thank you to everyone that has helped me -- supported me through all the ups and downs -- hope you have enjoyed watching me play," tweeted the flamboyant Warne.
He has played 52 games for Rajasthan so far, picking up 56 wickets at an average of 24.66.
"We have a spirit in the squad similar to IPL 1 -- it would be great to leave on a high -- I'm proud of the way we have developed young players," Warne wrote.
The Australian has been the face of the franchise and it is likely he will continue to be associated with them as a mentor or coach.
"Re next year, who knows what or if I will be involved in IPL re mentor/coaching -- am focused on doing best for RR this year -- see u at ground."
The Rajasthan Royals were quick to acknowledge Warne's contribution in shaping the franchise and said they will continue to look to the player for guidance in future editions.
"Shane Warne has been an integral part of Rajasthan Royals for the last four years," Raghu Iyer, the chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
"He has been instrumental in nurturing young talent in the team and making Rajasthan Royals a formidable force in IPL.
"We are looking forward to him assuming a larger role in the team and continuing adding value to the team's success."
Warne has been prominent in Indian newspapers ever since this edition began, be it for his leaner frame, glowing skin or latest girlfriend -- British actress and model Elizabeth Hurley.
Hurley was spotted in the stands for a number of Rajasthan matches and was photographed kissing the divorced Australian star.

Milan on the Titile

AC Milan will be celebrating an 18th Serie A title this weekend if they avoid defeat away to Roma on Saturday.
Milan just need one more point to ensure they win the league and even if they don't get it on Saturday night, they could still be crowned champions on Sunday if Inter Milan fail to beat Fiorentina.
Only a month ago the Serie A title race appeared to be heading for a thrilling three-way finish, with some even speculating that then in-form Udinese could turn it into a four-way battle.
But Milan beat both Inter and Napoli 3-0 at home and neither side recovered from those defeats to mount a serious challenge.
Since a surprise defeat at Palermo seemed to open the door to their rivals in March, Milan have won five in a row.
What's more, star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played in only one of those matches and is due to return to the fold against Roma, who will be without suspended midfield pair Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta.
It's perhaps just as well that Milan have a healthy eight-point lead going into these final three games, because on paper at least they appeared to have the toughest run-in.
Away trips to Roma, who are sixth, and fifth-placed Udinese sandwich a home clash with Caglairi.
Arriving at this stage with only a couple of points advantage over Inter and/or Napoli would have put the pressure on Milan but now Massimiliano Allegri's team can relax safe in the knowledge that the job is almost done.
And the coach himself admitted as much after last week's victory over Bologna.
"We'll get one point from three games, we hope to do it as soon as possible but we're in good shape," he said.
Once they have secured the title, Milan will start to focus on next season and an improved assault on the Champions League.
Since winning the competition in 2007 they have not made it past the last 16 and vice-president Adriano Galliani has promised some big signings in the summer, although he also said they will have to clear out some squad players.
"Due to injuries our squad grew to 31 players this year and it needs to return to 25-26," he said.
"It was an emergency brought on by the injuries.
"If we do win the league after many years of success for the other team in this city (Inter), our transfer dealings will be with the Champions League in mind which, more than ever, will be our priority.”

Who will win?????????????????????

"Barcelona or Man. United, who will be the new winner?" is the question in every supporter of football game.

100 runs from 47 balls !!!!

After a great a start in Royal Challenger Bangalore,Chris Gayle made his first century in DLF ipl4 against Punjab.

Gangugly will be a coach???

Mumbai Indians' fielding coach Jonty Rhodes says expecting Sourav Ganguly to make a difference to the floundering campaign of Pune Warriors is asking for too much.
He, however, added that if Ganguly is successful in instilling confidence in the Yuvraj Singh-led side, they would be a difficult team to handle.
"It's all played in the field. You can talk to players as much as you want. I think Gary [Kirsten] did it well for India but he had a three-year plan. So to bring Ganguly now and to expect him to make a big difference on and off the field is a big ask," the former South Africa batsman told reporters ahead of Mumbai's clash against Pune at the DY Patil Stadium here on Wednesday.
"It's obviously a step which they believe is in the right direction. He is a player with great experience and knowledge about the game. And also someone who the young Indian players look upto. Sure he was one of the most successful Indian captain, he didn't win the World Cup but his Test record was brilliant."
"You want your local players to perform well. We have [Ambati] Rayudu, Satish, Munaf, Harbhajan. Our local players are playing good cricket. That is what Yuvraj is hoping that Ganguly comes and does. It's not about international players. It's about the positive energy they bring into play."
"They were a dangerous team before he came and if he is able to bring in more confidence, they will become a team that will be pretty difficult to handle," he added.
Rhodes said though Pune Warriors are on a losing spree, Sachin Tendulkar's team will not take them lightly as things can change pretty quickly in T20 cricket.
"They won their first two matches at home. They are a side we are playing on their home turf. I'm sure they will be talking about how well they have played in their backyard in the past. We know they have got some good players in their side. One knock from Yuvraj can put them back into [contention]."
"I think that is where we are fortunate in having a guy like Sachin Tendulkar. He is not only a icon in
